New zbox barebones - need help installing OS

I recently bought a zbox sd-id12 as a gift and am not the most computer savvy person out there. I have bought the memory and hard drive for it and am trying to install a microsoft 2007 from a disk. I bought a HP dvd-rom drive (usb powered) to install the OS and driver installation cd. here is what message I get:

"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected device and press a key."

I have gotten into BIOS and changed boot configuration to USB 1st. Other than that I'm lost.

Please help, but keep in mind that I am a complete noob past surfing the web and computer basics.

You can press the F11 key to access the Boot Menu. From there you should be able to select the USB DVD Drive. If you are installing Windows 7, there is a tool that helps you install Windows 7 from USB Flash Drive.
