Well my cards where stable at 1.025 with the old bios and their buggy now at a higher voltage so im sure its more than just voltage they changed in the new bios. Stick to the old bios unless you have a backup plane. Or if you know what your doing you can save your old bios and re flash if need be.

There is no way i'm updating my bios after reading this.

Ditto this comment. I've submitted a ticket in hopes of obtaining this mystical new bios and hopefully instructions on how to install it. :-)

Guys, I spent the better part of my Sunday putting this new BIOS to the test. I got around to finishing Dues Ex (ran about 2-3 hours straight) and I have noticed no ill effects. The voltage is a bit higher than I think is necessary, but the card seems to be stable so far.

I'll probably go on and benchmark the spit out of it during the long weekend and see if I can make the card beg for mercy.

Thanks tarpon31 for hooking me up with the BIOS.

Your very welcome. That is great news! Thanks for sharing.

Make sure when you run benchmarks and such to just use the one's that are actual games. Programs like OCCT,Furmark etc will give messed up results because of the protection feature that nvidia put in all GTX 580's. Not sure if you already knew about that or not just wanted to make sure.

The instructions are inside of the zip file that you download they are called "README 580 AMP and INFINITY BIOS. DOC you need an PDF reader to veiw it.

I have loaded the instructions seperate here if you want to veiw them without/before downloading the bios--> http://refile.net/ok/?a8MF

Just wanted to drop a line with the results. I just updated the bios about 10 minutes ago and the litmus test I was planning on running was battlefield 3. Previously when I tried to play a certain mission it would crash every time, without fail, to desktop with what I've been assuming is a dx11 halt failure. After the bios update I did not crash on this mission and the single player campaign is now playable again. I'll probably put a good chunk of time into this game tonight and assuming my machine isn't fried by the end of the night I'll post again with the number of times I've crashed. I usually average about 6 - 10 crashes an hour depending on the maps that are being played. Hopefully I'll be able to undercut that.

It's all very strange. I set myself your bios that you sent me (0.975v) but after installing the MSI AB showed 0.950v. Please send your new bios in the mail imaysky87@gmail.com Thanks.

Make sure you are getting the Bios for YOUR card, there are multiple kinds of cards for the 570/580 amps, so they may be using Different voltages for different cards ect.

Win a 2 sent me the BIOS, which supposedly was to be with 0.975v. I opened it in NiBiTor and found that there is 0.950v for 3D applications. But just in case that would prove this, I set the bios and it really MSI AB as expected showed 0.950v. So I have no idea how he showed 0.975. MSI AB and driver - are identical.

played BF3 a few hours - no crash.
BF3 did not crash every time with the stock bios and it did not crash every day.

For now I can say, the BIOS is better.

(Benchmarking never crashed the card. FurMark run for hours)

GPU-Z and MSI Aftb befor and after flashing:

That is great news!, I have sent the bios to several members through private message and so far the majority have written me back saying the bios update as fixed the problems they were having.

Only one member wrote back saying it did not fix his issues because his card was artifacting before and after the bios update so I think this card was damaged before even trying the update.

I am happy these bios updates are so far a positive thing.

The BIOS initally worked for me then the computer started to heavily artifact, and start crashing to desktop again. I would have posted earlier about this, but these forums seemed to disappear for a while and I only noticed it came back up today.
