Can someone explain why DTS MA & Dolby TrueHd is not possible with the HD-ID34BR?

I've read on a couple of forums that the Zbox HD-ID34BR will never support the HD audio codecs. Is this true? Reason I ask is because I just got Blu Ray playback working with XBMC Live and would really like to take advantage of TrueHD / DTS-MA being that my receiver is capable of playing them. Thanks.

im curious of this as well but it does say it can do Digital 8-Channel Audio (LPCM via HDMI). I think it has to do something with bitstreaming support but i think that XBMC can do this and send that to your receiver but if someone who know audio could elaborate that would be perfect.

I'm not sure if XBMX supports DTS MA and Dolby True HD, but even if they do, I dont think the hardware in the Zbox is capable of outputting it.

From the information given to me, the current ZBOX's are not yet capable of this.

All Intel Atom boxes "cannot" bitstream via HDMI High res audio (DTS-MA and Dolby TrueHD).

The new ZBox AD03 can bitstream.

jz1276 - I have heard that the XBMC team are working on this. I'm not sure if it is currently working on the Windows version, but I know it does not currently allow the DTS-HD MA passthrough the HDMI cable in the Linux Version - either XBMC live or OpenELEC - see post http://www.openelec....x-with-openelec

hln98 - you posted on the 4th March, and I cant remember if the Zotac HD ID41 was released before or after this. Anyway, can you confirm that this model does not do the DTS-HD MA passthrough

When I have looked on the Ebuyer website (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/256169), this model says the Digital Audio out is "HDCP w/8-channel digital audio" for the HDMI connection.

Does anyone know if the optical out can do the DTS-HD MA output?

Cheers

Ste

Optical cables cannot passthrough ANY HD codecs no matter what machine you are using.
