We're all eagerly awaiting the new Batman: Arkham City release later this month! I was a big fan of the original Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City looks like it's kept much of the same great gameplay and significantly boosted all my favorite parts (better combat, more gadgets, more Riddler!).

I thought that, as a Batman fan, I'd go over some of the more obscure villains in this latest Batman incarnation and shed some light on the biggest and baddest new additions!

Hugo Strange: Behold the bald of evil! Hugo Strange is the perfect blend of psychotic villainy and intelligence that makes him such a unique Batman villain. If Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight is any indicator, watching the Batman being outwitted and rising to the occasion is even more satisfying than watching him pummel punks all day long. I am excited to see what kind of dark plot Arkham City will weave.

Jack Ryder: Okay, first off: not a villain. At least, as far as we know. However, Jack Ryder does get involved in Arkham City's storyline rather early from what we could tell from the trailers, and it may be just a matter of time before we get to see some Creeper! What's a Creeper, you ask? Imagine one parts Joker, two parts heroism, and the color scheme of a traffic stop-light were blended together and you get the Creeper. It looks like Batman will have his fair share of allies in Arkham City and I hope we get some debilitating hyena laughter at some point in the series!

Victor Zsasz: This guy is, however, no laughing matter. In fact, Zsasz is actually the one villain I think may be too dark for this game. Zsasz is a killer, plain and simple, with no colorful psychological hangups beyond the kill. Except that he likes to carve tally marks on himself. Apparently, you'll need to stop Zsasz's rampage throughout the game; I sincerely hope Batman drops the Batmobile on this guy (of course, he'll survive).

Calender Man: This wacky gentleman is a criminal genius with a unique obsession (I think I just described half of Batman's villains) with dates and calenders. Okay, that's pretty weak. But given that a similar obsession with riddles, birds, or duality can spawn some of Batman's most iconic villains, Calender Man will hopefully be a fun character in Arkham City. Rumor has it that, if you visit him on certain days, he'll reveal secrets. As if I wasn't going to waste enough time on this game already!
